Galata Tower was built by the Genoese colony in 1348 as part of their fortifications.
Galata Tower (Turkish= Galata Kulesi): Galata Tower may be a 650 years old, 67 meter tall tower. It features a fabulous look at Golden Horn, Historical Peninsula and Bosphorus. The tower is open to public, to help you to utilize the view through the top (one can find elevators). Getting there:
It may be possible to walk along the very steep hill to Galata Tower by continuing straight on on the end of Taksim’s Istiklal Caddesi. Or walk towards the tower uphill within the Galata Bridge side.
